A day of food, music and activities designed to boost Sunday footfall and engage people with the unique businesses and heritage of the Old City.
Bristol City Centre BID hosted the Old City Street Party in June 2019, coordinating a day of food, music and activities designed to boost Sunday footfall and engage people with the unique businesses and heritage of the Old City.
We reached a wider audience by making the event free-of-charge and linking it to the final day of Bristol Food Connections festival. Closing Small Street and Corn Street to traffic for the day enhanced the street party atmosphere and encouraged people to explore the area more freely on foot, while timed performances, guided tours and family activities gave people reasons to spend more time there. Old City businesses contributed special offers and prizes to our ‘golden envelopes’ distributed to visitors, giving them the chance to reach new customers. The event also offered many opportunities for business promotion and engagement through social media channels. BID’s relationship with Destination Bristol enabled us to secure substantial event promotion through their digital channels, including a five-day promotion on the Visit Bristol facebook page that rendered more than 45,000 impressions.
