What’s Happening in Bristol for Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year celebrations begin on the 5th February, and whilst we might be almost 5,000 miles away from China there’s plenty of places around Bristol city centre that are bringing the festivities to us this year

Bristol City Centre BID Lion Dance

We didn’t want to miss out on the Chinese New Year action so we are putting on a lion dance in Anchor Square on Saturday the 9th. It will start at 3.30pm and is a full hour performance with two lions- double the fun!

168 Oriental

This Park Street Chinese supermarket and restaurant will be offering free dumpling tastings on the 9th and 10th of February, and they’re also hosting a lion dance on Saturday the 9th at 12pm.

Za Za Bazaar

Grab a plate (or three) of world cuisine at Bristol’s biggest all you can eat buffet and check out the lion dance outside from 5pm on Saturday the 9th.

Woky Ko Kauto

Owner and Master Chef finalist Larkin Cen will be cooking up a Chinese feast on the 7th February at Woky Ko Kauto. Tickets are available from Wriggle and include a free glass of fizz!

Wong’s

This award winning restaurant will be putting on a special Chinese New Year buffet throughout the entire 15 days of celebrations.

In addition to these special events there’s a whole host of restaurants where you can grab some authentic Chinese cuisine right on your doorstep. 113, Great Chongqing and Wok to Walk are all great options for tasty, quick food that won’t break the bank, Cathay Rendezvous and Mayflower offer extensive menus with their classic Chinese dining experiences or, if your group can’t agree on a cuisine, head to Wagamama or Cosmo for pan-asian and world foods all under the same roof.
