Crimestoppers is an independent charity that operates across the UK to help fight crime.

Crimestoppers believe everyone has the right to feel safe from crime, no matter where they live or work, and our service is available across the UK. In 2020, they received over half a million pieces of criminal activity information, online and by phone. This was the highest number since Crimestoppers was founded over 30 years ago alongside 1.2 million+ website visits.
This winter we have partnered with Crimestoppers to engage with communities within the BID area that have high crime rates but low reporting rates. Key areas identified include Union Street and Park Street.
The aim of this project is to increase reporting, reduce crime and explore if such areas would benefit from the introduction of the Neighbourhood Watch or similar schemes in the long term.
