Supporting Businesses to Reduce Costs

Our partnership with PSP aims to work with you to identify and realise savings when considering new contracts and choosing suppliers. We can also support you to navigate the current cost of living crisis and achieve the best value on services like electricity, gas, water and telecoms. Since the beginning of this project in late 2022, PSP have identified over £66,000 in savings in the BID area and over £122,000 across the city centre.

SINGLE-USE PLASTICS BAN

From 1 October 2023 businesses must no longer supply, sell or offer certain single-use plastic items in England. You can prepare your business for the new rules by:

  • using up existing stock before 1 October
  • finding re-usable alternatives to single-use items
  • using different materials for single-use items

BUSINESS RATES REVALUATION 2023

You can now see the rateable value for your business property. The Valuation Office Agency (VOA) has updated the rateable values of all business, and other non-domestic, property in England and Wales.

These future rateable values took effect from 1 April 2023.

Businesses count down the days as imminent collapse of the High Street may become a reality.

WECA LOW CARBON SUPPORT PROGRAMME

  • Carbon surveys – free impartial support to find ways of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and energy costs.
  • Green business grants – funding to make energy savings and carbon reduction improvements to your buildings and operations.
  • Rooftop solar grants – funding to install solar panels on larger commercial and industrial buildings.
  • Heat pump grants – funding to install low carbon heating systems.
  • Energy bill advice – get in touch to talk about ways to reduce your businesses energy costs.
