Climate action in City Centre BID zone gets boost with new partnership

Bristol City Centre BID and Bristol Climate & Nature Partnership are excited to announce their new collaboration, delivering free and tailored climate support to organisations in the city centre.

06/02/2024

Following the success of Redcliffe & Temple Business Improvement District’s collaboration with Bristol Climate & Nature Partnership’s Climate Action Programme, we are excited to announce that the programme is expanding by launching a new partnership with Bristol City Centre BID. This exciting new collaboration will build on the Partnership’s localised approach and deliver free and tailored climate support to organisations in this area of the city.

The Climate Action Programme, now entering its third year, is supported by NatWest Group, Bristol City Council, Redcliffe & Temple BID and now Bristol City Centre BID, to help organisations across Bristol and the wider region to reduce their carbon emissions, as part of Bristol’s efforts to tackle the climate crisis.

The Climate Action Programme will support Bristol City Centre BID to achieve its strategic aims of ‘delivering projects that attract investment and talent, create a greener, cleaner and more attractive city centre, bringing visitors, employees and residents back into the heart of the city.’

Over the coming year, the Partnership will employ the same tried and tested approach implemented in Redcliffe and Temple and engage with City Centre BID businesses to understand how The Climate Action Programme can support them most effectively. The Partnership will create a tailored programme of events and resources to enable businesses to build capacity and expertise and tackle shared problems together.

Bristol City Centre BID is home to several members of the Partnership’s Climate Leaders Group – organisations with a stated aim and plan in place to achieve net zero by 2030 – including Bristol City Council, JLL, University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust, Triodos, University of Bristol, University of West of England, We The Curious and Watershed. The Partnership will build upon and share the experience of these organisations to support others with their climate action ambitions.

Tom Swithinbank, Project Manager at City Centre BID and Redcliffe & Temple BID said:

“After the success of this partnership with Redcliffe & Temple BID, we’re delighted to launch this collaboration between Bristol City Centre BID and Bristol Climate & Nature Partnership. We know that businesses in Bristol really benefit from the expertise and guidance from the team at the Partnership and we’re excited to understand how we can help and support with businesses net-zero ambitions.”

Vicki Wooley, Interim Chief Executive Officer of Bristol Climate & Nature Partnership, said:

“We’re thrilled to have formed this partnership with City Centre BID, which will enable the free, practical support offered by the Climate Action Programme to reach many more organisations in the city centre area. Reducing emissions can seem a daunting challenge, but by bringing organisations together and sharing experience and best practice, we can help them take steps forward.”
