Bristol BCRP achieves National Standards Accreditation for Excellence in Crime Reduction

This recognition highlights the partnership’s exceptional performance in creating a safer city centre for businesses, staff and the public.

08/07/2025

Bristol’s Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP), a BID-led initiative uniting local and national businesses, Avon and Somerset Police and Bristol City Council to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour, has been officially awarded the prestigious National Standards Accreditation by Police Crime Prevention Initiatives.

A benchmark for safety and partnership

The accreditation confirms that Bristol BCRP operates to the highest national standards in business crime reduction, governance and multi-agency collaboration. It reflects the outstanding work delivered by our teams across Bristol City Centre, Redcliffe & Temple and Broadmead.

Since its launch in 2019, Bristol BCRP has become a vital connector between businesses and statutory services, supporting both the day and night-time economies. Our initiatives include:

  • Secure incident reporting and offender intelligence sharing via the DiSC platform – short for Database of Intelligence Sharing & Collaboration, DiSC is a secure, GDPR-compliant online system used by BCRPs across the UK
  • Regular walk-and-talks and crime prevention briefings
  • Access to dedicated crime reduction training and strategic advice

Our own Carmen Ceesay, Bristol BCRP Manager, said:

“Achieving this accreditation is testament to the strength and impact of our partnership. It’s about safeguarding livelihoods, supporting staff and customer safety and boosting public confidence in Bristol. We’re proud to meet these national standards and remain focused on delivering meaningful outcomes for our city’s business community.”

Sophie Jordan, Lead Assessor of the BCRP National Standards Accreditation, added:

“Bristol BCRP operates at an exceptionally high level, driven by a strong multi-agency approach. This success is a credit to the organisational leadership and dedication of the BCRP team.”

What this means for BID members

This accreditation confirms that BID levy payers are investing in a nationally recognised and effective approach to business safety. It reflects the BID’s commitment to Safe & Supported Communities, one of the core themes of the proposed Bristol BID for 2025–2030.

As we look ahead to uniting under a single citywide BID, this milestone strengthens our foundation for a safer, more resilient city centre.
