Sun, showers and Old City Sounds kept our city centre cleansing team busy this August, as they helped to deep clean the Old City ahead of the bank holiday. The team covered the Old City, Harbourside, Park Street and Queens Road in their weekly cleansing round.

They also helped to deep clean outside businesses including The Shakespeare, the Hippodrome, Holiday Inn and streets including St Nicholas Street and St Stephens Avenue to keep these areas looking welcoming and inviting with an increase in footfall over the summer holidays.

The team received the following words from the Hippodrome’s Head of Maintenance, Dave Sheppard:

“I just wanted to yet again say a big THANK YOU!! Tom and Ashley continue to do a cracking job of cleaning up the City Centre. Tom is always friendly and goes out of his way to be helpful at all times. I made a point of stopping to chat to Tom this morning as I was at Stage door and Tom and Ashley were out jet-washing Denmark and Hanover Streets. What great support we get from both of them and the BID is certainly a great organisation.”

We love to hear your feedback, thank you for such kind words Dave!

On the graffiti front, the team had a bumper month, with 143 items of graffiti removed from 50 locations, with an increase in hotspots popping up across the centre. This has raised our year to date total to as astounding 928 items of graffiti being removed across a whopping 455 locations. As always, we would love your help to reduce prolific graffiti, by reporting any criminal damage to the police via their online reporting system.

As always we would like to say a big thank you to Tom and Ashley for their continual hard work and for getting the job done with a smile on their faces, their work really does make a big difference!
