Since August 2018, Bristol City Centre BID has been working with Caring in Bristol, a local charity delivering projects around homelessness.
In autumn 2018, BID funded an edition of Caring in Bristol’s Survival Handbook for distribution across the BID area, providing essential information about the wide range of resources available to help those people who are sleeping rough. We also supported the Caring at Christmas project 2018, aimed at reducing rough sleeping in the city centre during the Christmas period by providing shelter, food, warmth, company, activities and entertainment as well as medical and emotional support. BID’s £3.5k investment helped Caring in Bristol to raise an additional £28,500 from BS1 postcodes. Almost 1,000 meals were served at the day centre across a five-day period and around 80 different guests made use of the beds at the night shelter throughout the Christmas week.
Our partnership with Caring in Bristol continues through the new TAP for Bristol initiative.
