Bristol businesses in the Spotlight: Nominate your Favourite Local Business and win £1,000

Bristol BIDs unite to back the national search for the UK’s Favourite Local Business 2024

25/09/2024

Local businesses in Bristol are set to benefit from a major boost, thanks to a nationwide competition to find Britain’s best local business. Bristol’s three central Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) – Bristol City Centre BID, Redcliffe & Temple BID and Broadmead BID – are leading the local charge to support the initiative, with a £1,000 Love Bristol Gift Card as the prize for the person who nominates the winning business, if the UK’s Favourite Local Business is from Bristol.

The UK’s Favourite Local Business 2024 competition, backed by fintech company Miconex, aims to encourage shoppers across the country to shop locally. In Bristol, over 180 businesses are part of the Love Bristol Gift Card programme, giving both big-name brands and independent shops the chance to shine. The winning business will be crowned based on public nominations and will receive a £500 Town & City Gift Card to reinvest in their business, with one lucky nominator also walking away with a £1,000 Love Bristol Gift Card.

From bustling cafes and boutiques to beloved restaurants, hotels and attractions, every corner of Bristol’s business community is eligible. Nominations are open to the public, with anyone able to nominate their favourite business at www.lovelocalwin.co.uk by simply submitting the business name and a reason why they deserve to win.

With the competition running until Thursday 31st October 2024, the BIDs are confident Bristol could take the title.

Steve Bluff, Head of Redcliffe & Temple BID, said:

“Shopping local is crucial for Bristol’s economy and this competition is a fantastic way for the people of Bristol to show their love for our city’s businesses. We launched the Love Bristol Gift Card to champion these businesses and now we can’t wait to see who will be crowned the UK’s Favourite Local Business.”

Vicky Lee, Director of Bristol City Centre BID, said:

“We’re confident Bristol is home to the UK’s Favourite Local Business. It takes just two minutes to nominate and the benefits for the winning business and the nominator are incredible.”

Vivienne Kennedy, Director of Broadmead BID, added:

“A win would be an amazing boost for a Bristol business. Even being nominated highlights the amazing quality and range of local businesses we have here.”

The Love Bristol Gift Card has been instrumental in promoting local shopping and with Christmas approaching, this competition adds another incentive to keep spending local.

The competition comes at a time when the “shop local” movement continues to gain momentum across the UK. According to Miconex’s research, 98% of people are keen to support local businesses, especially in the lead-up to Christmas.

Colin Munro, Managing Director of Miconex, said:

“We’re thrilled to bring this competition to Bristol. It’s an excellent way for the community to celebrate local businesses that have made a real difference. We can’t wait to see the nominations roll in.”

Nominate your favourite local business at www.lovelocalwin.co.uk before the competition closes on 31st October 2024.
