Spy, Discover, Create: Company of International Artists (CIA) GIANT Art Trail takes over Bristol

We're supporting Brave Bold Drama's latest project through our Enhance and Promote Fund.

22/08/2024

As part of our Enhance/Promote Fund, we’re supporting Brave Bold Drama’s latest project, encouraging young people to become more involved in art and to get outdoors with their families in Bristol this summer and autumn.

THE GIANT BRISTOL ART TRAIL

The GIANT Bristol CIA Art Trail, developed by the award-winning Brave Bold Drama through their Company of International Artists project, will see the city centre transformed into an expansive, interactive art gallery. Running from Monday 12 August to Sunday 3 November 2024, the family-friendly trail invites participants to explore 11 unique artworks at various venues across the city.

HOW IT WORKS

Participants, taking on the roles of ‘honorary agents,’ are encouraged to choose secret agent names and disguises as they embark on their mission. They can visit the venues in any order, providing flexibility for all families. Each location offers creative prompts designed to inspire children to create their own artworks. Additionally, participants will collect letters from each artwork to form a discount code for a subscription to the Company of International Artists.

PARTICIPATING VENUES AND ACTIVITIES

The trail spans a variety of beloved Bristol venues, including:

  • Second Page Bookshop: Create art about bravery.
  • Japonicat: Draw pesky pets.
  • Treasure Island Sweets: Design a pirate’s treasure map.
  • Stanfords Bookshop: Make circular art.
  • Bristol Old Vic: Depict audience perspectives.
  • Watershed: Imagine river miniatures.
  • Hobgoblin Music: Invent new dances.
  • Folk House: Decorate animals.
  • Cass Art: Use scissors like Matisse at the Creation Station.
  • Boston Tea Party: Art featuring favourite foods and hidden messages.
  • Bristol Museum & Art Gallery: Combine elements from different time periods.

SUPPORTING COMMUNITY AND CREATIVITY

The GIANT Bristol CIA Art Trail is one of many initiatives supported by the BID’s Enhance and Promote Fund. This fund aims to increase footfall and spending in the city centre by supporting projects that align with our core themes of enhancing, promoting, protecting, and supporting the city.
