June marks two years since the introduction of the Love Bristol Gift Card, which can now be used in more than 180 venues across the city for shoppers to make the most of the diverse offerings of Bristol. Initially implemented to support local businesses, the gift card promotes a circular economy – with money from the gift card redeemed in and therefore kept in, the city.

Since the launch in 2022, Love Bristol Gift Card sales total £111,260 (as of May 2024). Latest reports from Miconex, who manage the programme, show that sales of the gift cards are continuing to rise, with sales and redemptions between February and April increasing from £14,709 to £20,392, a rise of almost 40%

Introduced by the three central Business Improvement Districts (BIDs), the Love Bristol Gift Card can be spent with 180 businesses in the city, including shops, restaurants, theatres and music venues, offering residents and tourists an easy way to support local retailers.

Now gifting local is even easier as the Love Bristol Gift Card has been added as a purchase option on group collecting platform GiftRound, which allows gift givers to easily collect from a group of friends, family or colleagues to contribute money towards a Love Bristol Gift Card. The gift card is the perfect choice for leaving gifts, new babies, weddings and the end of the school year – with gifting for teachers at the end of term just around the corner.

The Love Bristol Gift Card is part of the award winning Town & City Gift Card concept from fintech Miconex. With the end of term approaching for schools, the BIDs are appealing to school children to nominate their favourite educators as part of the national Town & City Gift Card Teacher of the Year competition, with the reward being a £250 gift card.

Vicky Lee, Head of Bristol City Centre BID, said:

“The Love Bristol Gift Card is a great way to get people shopping in Bristol’s eclectic venues. We would love to see a Bristol teacher win Teacher of the Year, so that we can celebrate both the amazing work that our schools do as well as the brilliant work of our city centre businesses.”

Steve Bluff, Head of Redcliffe & Temple BID, said:

“The implementation of the Love Bristol Gift Card on GiftRound is a really great way to further the opportunities for people to buy the gift cards for special occasions, and we hope to see already fantastic sales numbers increase ever further to help us support our local venues this summer.”

Love Bristol Gift Cards can be purchased online at https://townandcitygiftcards.com/product/love-bristol-gift-card/, with a minimum value of £5 and a maximum value of £500.
