Bristol City Centre BID’s festive programme aims to give Bristol added appeal as a Christmas destination and encourage people to spend more time here.

Bristol will feel more festive than ever for 2022 with the unveiling of sparkly new Christmas lights and the return of our Love Songs to the City neons.

Corn Street has been transformed into Bristol’s answer to Carnaby Street with the love themed light installations adorning the historic street, including eight love lyrics to be spotted (and selfied under!). New neon festive uplighters and sparkly disco balls can also be spotted across the Old City.

From 14 November the city centre will be lit up after dark with further Christmas light installations on King Street, Welsh back, Park Street and Queens Road. Park Street is once again lit with stunning LED festoon lighting, which was launched in 2021, and also now extended onto Queens Road.

FESTIVE THROWBACK

In 2018, Bristol City Centre BID also commissioned a month-long interactive light art installation on College Green, film-effect snowfall on Millennium Promenade and the Old City, and a specially curated light show on Corn Street to celebrate 275 years of Bristol’s famous St Nicholas Market.

It makes Bristol a more desirable choice among the growing numbers of people planning a festive short break: VisitEngland research showed that 13 million Brits (26%) planned to take an overnight UK trip over the Christmas and New Year period in 2018/19, boosting the economy by an estimated £2.6billion.

Christmas is a time of year when shoppers want more than just shopping. They’re looking to share experiences, create memories and build a sense of excitement. Our festive programme helps do exactly that.
