Taking place on the week commencing 17th March, the inaugural National BCRP Awareness Week focused on the important and varied work of BCRPs, highlighting ways in which the partnership supports our local community.

Through various events, the week showcased the partnership’s holistic approach to business crime prevention, and partnership work safeguarding the people who live, work and socialise in central Bristol, to better understand issues affecting the business community and develop long-term solutions through collaboration.

Purposes and Objectives of BCRP Awareness Week…

  • Focus on BCRPs, raise awareness and highlight the work taking place to support businesses and communities.
  • Demonstrate the complex role of BCRPs and how they differ from other organisations.
  • Support the business community by prioritising and tackling business crime, particularly the Retail Crime Action Plan and the Night Time Economy.
  • Promote collaborative working and relationships between BCRPs, police, local agencies and the business community.

Bristol BCRP Awareness Week 2025 saw a successful programme of dedicated events and engagement initiatives take to the BID areas, including…

  • A Youth Services in Bristol City Centre Awareness Day, highlighting the various services available to young people.
  • ‘Walk and Talks’, visiting various businesses around central Bristol.
  • Representing the BCRP and BIDs at GWR’s ‘Better Together’ event at Bristol Parkway Station.
  • A small-scale Safer Business Action event in Broadmead.
  • A drop-in ‘Coffee with a Cop’ event offering businesses and the local community a drop-in opportunity to raise concerns with the Broadmead PCSO.
  • The inaugural Annual General Meeting of the Bristol BCRP Advisory Board

In their wrap-up of the nationwide event, the National Association of Business Crime Partnerships (NABCP) described Bristol BCRP’s Awareness Week as follows…

“During our visit to Bristol, we joined the inaugural meeting of the BCRP Advisory Board — bringing together key voices from across the city: the business community (hotels, retail, banking, and the night-time economy), BIDs, the Local Authority, outreach teams, and security leads.

“The BID’s investment in a dedicated PCSO, Rangers, and Outreach Officer enables a coordinated, multi-agency response to crime, anti-social behaviour, and related challenges — every single day.

“A highlight of the visit: Carmen Ceesay, BCRP Crime Manager, presented the BCRP Annual Report, packed with impressive outcomes. One figure in particular stood out — in 2024 alone, the Retail Rangers recovered £67,125 in stolen goods. An extraordinary result, and a testament to focused, on-the-ground action.”

The Business Crime Reduction Partnership is a collaboration between Bristol City Centre BID, Broadmead BID and Redcliffe & Temple BID and would not be possible without the work of Avon & Somerset Police, the National Association of Business Crime Partnerships (NABCP) and National Business Crime Centre (NBCC).
