Violence against women and girls (VAWG) is a reflection of unequal power relations between women and men, both in society and at work.

We have been working with Avon and Somerset Police, alongside over 120 representatives from a wide range of backgrounds and organisations to make a commitment to eliminating VAWG across Avon and Somerset and beyond.

On Friday 6 May, Enough: Be Part of the Change VAWG Summit was led by a Steering Group comprising local MPs, representatives from local authorities, Avon and Somerset Police, the CPS and other key influencers.

Alongside safety of women in the workplace, led by Senior Project Manager Francesca Inman, topics discussed included:

  • Ending violence against women, Professor Betsy Stanko OBE
  • Keeping women living in busy cities safe, Dr. Ellie Cosgrave
  • Developing and delivering the police strategy to tackle violence against women and girls, Deputy Chief Constable Maggie Blyth
  • Creating change in communities for equal rights, Gina Martin
  • Reprovide domestic violence perpetrator programme, Sally Stockham.
