Awarded for it’s thriving evening and night time economy (ENTE). The Purple Flag aims to elevate the standard and enhance the appeal of town and city centres between the hours of 5pm and 5am. This esteemed recognition acknowledges areas that provide a vibrant and diverse mix of dining, entertainment, and culture, while prioritising the safety and wellbeing of both visitors and local residents.

Bristol’s submission for the Purple Flag accreditation showcased numerous outstanding achievements and best practices. Notable highlights include the exemplary safety measures and harm reduction efforts implemented by Bristol Nights and partners, an initiative committed to creating a secure environment. The city’s diverse events program, featuring remarkable successes such as the highly acclaimed ‘Bristol Light Festival,’ further contributes to its vibrant atmosphere. Bristol’s commitment to a welcoming environment is underscored by innovative schemes like the ‘Clean Street Strategy,’ ensuring a pleasant experience for all.
