With freshers’ week underway, thousands of new and returning students have arrived in Bristol, bringing a surge of activity into our pubs, clubs, and bars as they explore what Bristol has to offer after dark.
To support students and night-time venues across the city, our partnership work has distributed guides and safety resources to over 160 venues across the city, including universities and student accommodation. This initiative aims to showcase Bristol as a safe, inclusive, diverse and fun place to live and study.
We have joined forces with Bristol City Council, Avon and Somerset Police, Bristol University, University of The West of England and Bristol Nights to help keep students safe in our city.
2024
In partnership with Bristol Nights, we have funded the printing and redesign of a Fresh(er) Guide to Bristol and a pocket-sized safety guide for students.
Bristol Nights brings together several organisations, including Bristol City Centre BID, Bristol City Council, University of the West of England, University of Bristol, student unions, Bristol Drugs Project, and The Loop. It is dedicated to supporting the city at night and everyone who works from 6pm-6am.
Our Fresh(er) Guide to Bristol was featured in Bristol24/7’s Student Guide, showcasing some of the top spots to visit in the city. Featuring the best places to eat, drink, and shop, as well as budget-friendly recommendations, perfect for new and returning students to the city.
We are a proud sponsor of the 2024/2025 Bristol24/7 Student Guide, welcoming students to our city and covering all the essentials to living in Bristol. From food, drink, and fashion to well-being and budgeting, the free Student Guide helps everyone to make the most of their time as a student in Bristol.
The student safety guide combines existing Bristol Nights campaigns, including Bristol Rules, Harm Reduction, and anti-drink spiking in one pocket-sized guide.
Our work with Bristol Nights promotes a safe and enjoyable space for everyone whilst providing students, residents, and night-time economy staff with essential information to keep everyone safe.
You can find out more about Bristol Nights and their campaigns by visiting their website and checking out their guide to enjoying Bristol’s nightlife.
City centre venues can request free safety materials by getting in touch with the Bristol Nights team.

2023
This campaign, made up of series of videos is timed to welcome Bristol’s 60,000-strong student community for the new academic year, which will provide information on drug and alcohol harm reduction, drink spiking, looking out for your friends, water safety, and harassment prevention. The films also discuss how to reduce burglaries in student housing, as well as how to take care of yourself and others while out and about in the city.
