Celebrating Love Parks Week

Highlighting the best of Bristol's green spaces to get you outdoors this summer

01/07/2024

It’s Love Parks Week from 26 July to 4 August 2024, a week-long celebration held annually to celebrate parks and green spaces across the UK. Delivered by Keep Britain Tidy, Love Parks Week highlights the vital role parks play in promoting health and wellbeing, acting as a community hub, and improving air and water quality.

Here in Bristol, we are lucky to have so many beautiful green spaces to discover on our doorstep. Love Parks Week encourages everyone to get outdoors and spend time in the green spaces around us to reignite our love and appreciation of parks. Whether that’s to connect with nature, enjoy a summer stroll, or act as the perfect backdrop for a picnic or outdoor activity.

Outdoor events

We’re taking our lunchtime yoga sessions outdoors for summer and into local parks in the city. Our business community members can join us for free monthly sessions in Queen Square and Castle Park to slow down and relax whilst appreciating the beauty of our local green spaces.

How we are supporting parks and green spaces

To make the city centre a greener space for all, we’ve delivered several greening projects across the city, enhancing nature and bringing the best parts of parks into our streets and shared spaces. See the beautiful blooms of our wildflower meadow on Brandon Hill, green wall and planters across the city, and the vibrancy of the Marlborough Hill Steps makeover, adding a splash of colour to these heavy footfall areas and making the space green and welcoming for all.

This greening work followed the
Green Infrastructure Audit conducted by Land Use Consultants in 2019 which identified ten ideas that the BID could develop and progress

Bristol City Centre BID is passionate about supporting the city’s parks and green spaces. Currently, we are working with Bristol City Council to help shape the masterplan for Castle Park as part of the Bristol City Centre Development and Delivery Plan to regenerate the space.
